Gel or AGM

Sealed lead acid batteries have sulfuric acid as electrolyte.

In Gel batteries the electrolyte is stored in the form of Gel where as in AGM batteries it is stored in Absorbed Glass Mat.

Wheelchair batteries use both AGM and Gel batteries. Gel batteries are slightly more expensive than AGM batteries.

Tips for improving wheelchair battery life

Keep the wheelchair/scooter in a cooler place whenever possible - Higher the temperature lower the life

Avoid discharging the batteries completely - Deeper the depth of discharge lower the cycle life.

Unplug the charger from the wall when the battery is fully charged. - Do not over charge the batteries.

Do not leave the batteries in discharged condition - Leaving the batteries in a discharged condition reduces the life of the batteries.
